Deprivation of a driver's license is certainly one of the most terrible verdicts for a motorist. In fact, for a person it means a kind of temporary “death” as a driver. And, of course, no one wants to die! Some frantically begin to look for a way out of this situation. And it exists, although it is illegal.

Yes, all such methods are illegal , but this does not stop some. Today we will talk about the so-called “mirror driver’s license”, or “DSLRs”. This is the name given to a fake copy of a driver’s license, which contains the data of a real driver who is not deprived of the right to drive a vehicle, combined with a photograph of a person who is left without a license or does not have one at all. If you believe the stories, such fakes allow their owners to drive without fear of punishment. "Mirrors". Inexpensive!

We found the right person (it wasn’t difficult) and described our problem - fictitious, of course. According to legend, I was deprived of my driver's license for driving into the oncoming lane, and I decided to find out if it was possible to make myself a fake license to drive with it during the period of deprivation. At first, the interlocutor behaved quite cautiously and asked various leading questions: he found out where we got his contacts, asked under what particular article his rights were deprived, for how long, etc. But then he admitted that he was really engaged in such practice, although he himself was only only an intermediary who simply has the necessary connections in the organs. And supposedly completely different people, with the necessary connections, will make a fake license and enter the data into the traffic police database. The seller asked me to provide my full name and year of birth, which I happily did. Naturally, these data were also fictitious.

Then the DSLR dealer took a break to clarify the details with the “right people”, after which he happily announced: making a fake “driver’s license” is not a problem. Thanks to connections in the authorities, they will allegedly make it for me with a series and number taken from another person, but with my photograph. That is, they will make “DSLRs”. Moreover, according to the interlocutor, I was very lucky, because such “crusts” are no longer made for people of my (quite young) age, since it is difficult to select a “donor”. In addition, the seller warned that it is better not to get into an accident with such a vehicle. But otherwise, they say, there shouldn’t be any problems: the license will supposedly be in the traffic police database, so during verification it will be impossible to determine its authenticity, and if they suddenly issue a fine, then you don’t have to pay it at all, because the data in the protocol will still be different. Well, it’s just not right, but a fairy tale is better than the real thing! The seller also announced how much all the pleasure would cost - 40,000 rubles on a turnkey basis. This means that I will only need to send my photo, pay for the “service” by transfer, and then simply receive a v/c, which will be sent by courier to one of the common logistics companies. When asked about guarantees, the interlocutor referred to “extensive work experience” and added that such a document is “one hundred percent original” with all degrees of protection.

Of course, it would be wrong to judge the market for counterfeit driving documents based on one seller like this. Therefore, we found another intermediary who is also involved in similar illegal activities. And, oddly enough, the promises were very similar: I was supposed to get some kind of “clean driver’s license” that would allow me to drive, despite the deprivation. Moreover! The intermediary referred to the presence of a certain “curator” in the traffic police, who, in addition, would change the numbers on my driver’s license and “clean up” the database. According to the seller, with such a certificate I will be able to drive with complete peace of mind in the same way as before the deprivation. The interlocutor said that his people will start work after receiving an advance payment of 5,000 rubles, and the second part of the “fee” will need to be transferred when the document is ready - it will be 20,000 rubles. As in the first case, the driver’s license itself was offered to be sent by mail by a courier company.

As you can see, the spread in prices for making counterfeits turned out to be quite large - approximately twice. However, both of our interlocutors were ready to get to work at any moment. However, we did not give the go-ahead for the production of a fake military device. Now you will understand why.

What happens if you do something like this?

Nothing good. Let's start with the fact that the very fact of purchasing a fake driver's license is already a criminal offense falling under Part 2 of Art. 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Not only the seller of the fake “crust”, but also the buyer can be held liable. “Such actions are also criminally punishable, since in order to acquire a false identity card it is necessary to find a person offering such a service, provide him with your data, transfer a photograph, and payment, etc. Moreover, the buyer of such a “document” is fully aware of the illegality of these actions, due to with which he can be prosecuted. Secondly, even if you decide to break the law, it is far from certain that the result will be the desired one. Sellers of “mirror cameras” put pressure on the fact that you will supposedly receive a document with the data of another person and, therefore, when checking using the traffic police database, the inspector will not suspect anything. However, the fact is that this is pure theory. Let's start with the simplest. Each driver's license form has a unique number. This number is printed on the back of the document in red and then duplicated on the front in black. The nuance is that the manufacturer of the forms - Goznak - applies a red number even before sending them to the traffic police, and the State Traffic Inspectorate duplicates the license plate with black paint. That is, each form is unique; no two are alike. So it is impossible to get a real ID with the exact data of another person, no matter what “connections” or “your people in the traffic police” you have. The only thing they can send you is just a fake document. During our communication with sellers of DSLRs, we asked to send guarantees for the work, and one of our interlocutors sent a photo of such rights. A banal check of the license number on the traffic police website confirmed our assumptions: it was not a question of rights with the data of another person, but of an ordinary fake - the document number was not listed in the database at all.

Contrary to what the “black sellers” say, serial numbers for “mirror” driver’s licenses are taken completely randomly. These “crusts” do not pass a simple check on the traffic police website, that is, they are not listed in any “databases”. Well, in case of control on the road, a traffic police inspector will be able to identify a fake by its appearance...

But let’s assume you agree to this result. To a person who does not understand the nuances, it may seem that the fake “crust” is no different in appearance from the real one. This is a misleading impression. There will definitely be differences - in the font, in the color of the paint, in other little things that are invisible to the average driver, but are striking to the traffic police inspector. A driver's license provides several levels of protection against counterfeiting, so copying it without special equipment and a person with special knowledge is almost impossible. So there is no point in hoping that the “leftist” document will work. I remember a story from personal experience, how one Moscow resident I know bought a BRDM-2 decommissioned for civilian use, but did not bother too much with opening the appropriate category of driver’s license, preferring to buy a fake. Since his unusual vehicle could not help but attract attention, at the first traffic police checkpoint his documents were checked. The deception was revealed, which came as a surprise only to the owner of the vehicle, who was sure that the traffic cops would not be able to recognize the fake.

What happens if you drive with a fake license plate?

A driver who uses such a document while depriving his driver's license faces both administrative and criminal liability. “First of all, this is punishable under Part 2 of Art. 12.7 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation as driving a vehicle by a driver deprived of such a right. If you believe the official statistics of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, every year about 10,000–12,000 people are brought to justice for committing crimes under Article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Will foreign countries help us?

Another similar method by which you can supposedly get the opportunity to drive while deprived is to obtain a license issued by another state. It can be divided into two options: legal and illegal. In the first case, a person moves to another country for permanent residence, not forgetting to first deregister at his place of residence, receives a driver’s license in another state, and then returns to the Russian Federation and drives here with a foreign license. In the second case, the motorist simply illegally “buys” a foreign vehicle through the right people through an acquaintance.

At first glance, you can legally regain your mobility in this way. Especially if we consider obtaining a license from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union - Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Ultimately, legislation allows citizens from these countries to legally carry out business and labor activities (i.e., work, for example, as taxi drivers) on the territory of the Russian Federation. So, as we explained, it is impossible to produce “real” duplicates of driver’s licenses, as sellers on the black market promise, and traffic police inspectors can easily spot a fake. In fact, only foreign citizens can take advantage of foreign driving licenses. So there is no problem at all? Not really. The fact is that some “disenfranchised” still follow the lead of scammers and buy fakes, which they mistakenly consider “DSLRs,” and then get behind the wheel with them. Law-abiding motorists are dealing with the consequences. Imagine, such an unscrupulous person gets into an accident and invites another driver to draw up a European protocol, in which the data of the donor motorist is entered. As a result, both the second participant in the accident and the person who does not even suspect that his name and driver’s license number were taken to make a fake are dealing with the consequences. The same applies to the situation with fines for traffic violations - if for some reason a traffic cop overlooks a fake license, the driver who was not involved will have to prove his innocence.

Therefore, “mirror driver’s licenses” are a problem not only for “disenfranchised” people and the traffic police. This is a problem for the entire driving community.
