Who might be wanted
The following persons may be put on the wanted list:
- Citizens missing. If a person does not contact for a long time, his relatives can contact the police with a corresponding statement. Often, missing persons deliberately do not contact their relatives.
- Suspected of committing criminal offenses. In this case, the search procedure is initiated by the investigator. In his actions, he is guided by Article 210 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation.
- Draft dodgers from military service. The search for fugitives is carried out by military commissariats.
- Debtors for alimony, fines or persons evading the execution of court orders. The bailiff service is looking for such citizens.
Types of people search
The main classification of the search carried out by the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is related to the territorial scale of the search for persons.
Local search, as a rule, is carried out within the first 10 days after the disappearance of a citizen. In this case, the police conduct search work only within one region.
The federal search is announced after the local search period expires. Also, the data of persons on the federal wanted list are published in an open Internet source - on the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs , so that citizens can assist the authorities.
An interstate search is carried out jointly with Interpol if a citizen has committed serious violations of the law and, hiding from punishment, could leave the Russian Federation.
IMPORTANT! Since the most dangerous criminals for society are put on the federal wanted list, law enforcement agencies are ready to reward citizens who assisted in the search and provided reliable information about the whereabouts of wanted persons. The amount of reward for assistance to the Ministry of Internal Affairs can reach 1 million rubles for each criminal.
Stages of search
Search activities consist of 2 stages:
- active search;
- opening a separate investigation case.
If it is not possible to find someone in hot pursuit, as part of the search case they begin checking the installation data and monitoring for possible “beacons”. Using technical capabilities, they establish the location of a person using a mobile phone, if it is available and turned on. Withdrawing money from ATMs can tell you a lot. Often, informants of various levels and simply conscientious law-abiding citizens come to the aid of those authorized for operational-search activities. The successful work of an operative officer largely depends on his ability to recruit informants. Mobile operators help; upon request, they provide the coordinates of a lost person.
