How former employees - security forces, law enforcement officers - serve their sentences

In accordance with paragraph 3 of Art. 80 of the Penal Code of the Russian Federation, former military personnel of the internal troops, law enforcement officers (police, Ministry of Internal Affairs, FSIN, FSB), prosecutor's office, investigative committee, courts must serve their sentences in specialized correctional colonies for former employees. Compliance with this requirement is necessary to ensure the safety of ex-guardians of the law. To protect life and health, former representatives of other structures can also be sent to “special zones”: the Federal Tax Service, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, bailiffs, etc.

Regimes of detention in the colonies of the BS Ministry of Internal Affairs

The division into regimes in the so-called “cop” or “red” prisons is exactly the same as in ordinary ones. Depending on the severity of the crime, convicted persons who have previously worked in the justice system may be sent to:

  • general regime colonies for former employees (3 on the territory of the Russian Federation);
  • maximum security colonies for former employees (11 in the Russian Federation);
  • settlement colonies for former employees (7 in the Russian Federation).

There are officially no separate correctional institutions for BS who received life sentences in Russia. Former law enforcement officers are sent to a general special regime prison in the Arkhangelsk region.

“They are riding along the stage in Brioni suits.”

He served in and hunted terrorists from the North Caucasus, but a conflict with his colleagues ended in a criminal case and a real prison sentence for him.

With the mark of a fraudster, the former security officer went to the “red zone” for convicted security officials and experienced its realities for himself. Prisoners in Brioni suits; generals buying warm places for huge sums of money; jailers, out of laziness, leave the prisoners to work with secret documents - this is what our hero had to face. He spoke about the rules of life in the “red zones” in an exclusive interview. Warning According to prison concepts, all zones are divided into “red” and “black”.

In the first, all aspects of the life of prisoners are completely controlled by the administration of correctional institutions, in the second, all informal issues (including those related to the administration) are resolved by criminal elements. However, according to another classification, only those zones where former employees are serving their sentences are called “red.” They are the ones that will be discussed in this article. — I come from the Far East.

He graduated from school, entered a civilian institute, and after that he decided to join the FSB,” says Roman (the narrator’s name has been changed because the terrorists put him on their list for liquidation). — In general, immediately after school, those who already have someone in this system go to the FSB Academy.

I didn’t have such connections, but working in the intelligence service seemed interesting.

I came to the department, called the HR department and said that I wanted to work. I wanted to do operational work.

Cells for former employees in pre-trial detention centers

Like all other categories of accused, former law enforcement officers are kept in a pre-trial detention center until trial. Already at this stage, ex-guardians of the law are separated from the general contingent. They are placed in special cells for BS, without taking into account the severity of the crime committed. Thus, cellmates in a pre-trial detention center may include previously unconvicted suspects on economic charges and untried repeat killers from among former representatives of law enforcement agencies.
